CATS IN THE CLOUDS
CREATING PROCESS
The general idea and concept - designing cat shapes with more defined and stylized curves - took inspiration from another illustration for another client of mine. The rough sketch (shown above) was more curvy and complicated. However, liking the look of it, I decided to explore a bit more and create something more modern.
First, the cats were redrawn in a more modern way, with simpler curves and geometric shapes. Then I added more curves and waves in the background (after viewing some Waves Wallpapers for reference). The idea was Cats and Clouds (or Waves) and more cultural elements related to Tet.
They were all designed in simpler and more geometric shapes compared to their real life counterparts. The typography was also shaped in triangles and circles to create contast.
Different color variations were tested. The best option for CMYK printing was chosen.
